The next day when I got out of the shower, I noticed that not only had she screwed up my curls, but my highlights as well!! There was half a blonde streak through the underside of my hair in a couple places, and a 1 inch strip of the hair near my temple wasn't colored until about 2 inches down the shaft of the hairs. The worst part? You can see that piece in my pictures from the ball. :c It stands out like a sore thumb. I wish I wasn't too nice too people, I should have demanded a refund. She originally wanted to charge me $130, but then in some kind of attempt to be "nice" dropped the price to $115. Whoopie doo. I deserved well more of a cut than $15 for the crappy job she did. I will post pics to my Google+ for anyone interested in seeing the results.
I was attending a military ball that night, and asked for highlights, mainly to help conceal my root growth, and side-swept old hollywood style curls. The curls were what I first noticed. She wasn't very skilled with her curling iron, and left crinkles in my hair from the clamp. Then she attempted to curl some of the with the straightening iron by rotating it (which does not work on naturally stick straight hair like mine) and they ended up looking really distorted. She tried to play it off by telling me how pretty my hair looked, until I turned around and saw it in the mirror and voiced that I was very unhappy with the result. (I am a very non confrontational person btw, normally I would have kept my mouth shut, but these were horrible!) She then began to agree with me, and said that my hair was the problem and it was probably because I had too many chemicals in it. However, I have **never** had a problem curling my hair at home, even in it's current state. I told her just to straighten it. She tried to do some kind of waterfall braid in my hair, and I ended up taking it down when I got home because I looked like a 5 year old flower girl. I ended up styling it myself at home.
The atmosphere is professional, but don't be misled here! Professionalism is something they do carry, but courtesy and dedication to hair and clients is the worst I have seen. Stylists do not care about achieving new clients unless they approve of them and their lives. I do not recommend this place to anyone! Especially considering how many other fantastic stylists there are!
I had an awful experience with Amber at Hairlinz. Although the girls there were very accommodating and got me in for an appointment the same day, it became pretty obvious why my hairdresser had a pretty open schedule, that is if she does everyone else's hair like she did mine....
