I love this place. I’m sad to see the bears have been unfairly taken away. Financially, It must be nearly impossible to fight a national organization such as PETA, even when the Park was not in the wrong. I have always and will continue to visit this park
This place is fantastic and was certainly a hidden gem! My whole family went and took all the cousins. While the place is on the smaller/ old fashioned side of zoo design, all the animals seemed cheerful and happy to interact with people. We watched animals be fed fresh fruits and vegetables, and even got to feed some of them ourselves! A lovely family friendly place that provided education and fun for all ages. I'd give 6 stars if I could!
This zoo has been around longer than I have been alive. I am 45 yrs old & absolutely love this zoo! I enjoy taking my children there & look forward to taking my granddaughter this spring. This is home for these animals & people taking them from their home is what's going to hurt them! Leave our zoo alone & let the Tregembos do what they love & what they are good at!
I debated it for a long time but my friend really wanted to go so I finally went. It was cool to see so many exotic animals up close, But I felt extremely selfish at the same time. Every cage I stared into broke my heart. All I could think about was how I would feel trapped in a tiny cage all day, everyday, for the rest of my life. Also I'm not a vet but I'm pretty sure bears and lions aren't supposed to eat corn and peanuts. That's what the staff will give you to literally 'throw' at the animals. These animals are meant to roam free in the wild, not locked in a tiny cage for human amusement. In hindsight I wish I wouldn't have spent money there. Please don't contribute to the confinement of these animals, they don't deserve to live life like that . I don't normally write reviews, but I feel like I have to say something because I feel awful. These animals don't have voices...do the right thing for THEM.
This was such a disappointment, and truly should be illegal. I didn't realize the amount of animals we would encounter upon coming here nor did I realize how badly their conditions would be. I didn't take pictures because I was so depressed by seeing a malnourished lion or how about the baboon with ulcers on his rear end from sitting too long. I tried to reason with myself thinking these animals are probably only here on display for a few months then surely have to be set free to roam in the offseason, only to learn they aren't. First of all they have way too many animals for this small of an exhibit. The poor animals are caged and never free to roam. It was such a horrid sight and I'm thoroughly ashamed of myself for contributing to see such animal abuse. Wilmington should and can do so much better. Save your money and go the extra miles to the aquarium.
