During the whole process they set you up for failure, if you make one mistake, they will catch you with all of the audio recordings they do. Seriously? This service is corrupt and is only here to screw the people by taking their hard earned money with fines an penalties because we can't do something right the first time by using their convoluted system of paperwork and websites.
I wish there was a lower rating for this office. The staff here are rude, disrespectful and lazy. They are not helpful to taxpaying citizens that come there to pay their taxes. They don't want to help you; all they want is for you to leave and fill out and submit your forms online or mail the forms and payments in. If you have a question for the IRS you're better off calling them directly because the staff here does not want to help you.
You need to make an appointment, meanwhile the building is a ghost town, no other people waiting to be seen, They force you to call a number and wait 45 minutes to speak with someone. Meanwhile they say go online, however the dam website remains in maintenance mode for weeks, so you can't do anything but wait on the damn phone just to ask a couple of questions. Once you get there you have follow procedures that mimic a prison system, while at the appointment you get thrown around with words and policies that no one, but a tax pro would know and still have no clue what the hell is going on or what you can do to help. All they say is you can make a payment. What they don't say is there are plenty of options for you to request a fine removal, or reduction. Seriously, it sucks to hire a tax lawyer, but do it.
"Sorry, I understand you live paycheck to paycheck, our system allows everyone to make a payment they are able to make. Lets look up what you can pay.... Here it is, how about 1/3 of your paycheck!"
