Just spent the weekend here. Had a great time. Its a little outdated but definitely a great place to camp. The staff was very helpful and nice. The showers felt great after a long hot day at the beach. The water smells a little but thats because its coastal well water. Its was expected. We will definitely be returning soon.
I couldn't let my partner go to the bathroom alone, and we had to lock up the van every time we went. The toilets were filthy, there were no locks on the doors and people could easily see over the shower doors. The showers smelt like urine and the toilets were constantly clogged. They were also located next to the biggest camp fire party, with a huge group of men singing karaoke, drinking, yelling and flying rebel flags.
This is not a campsite, this is a trailer park. There's trash everywhere, the toilets are a disgrace, permanent residence with bad attitudes and rebel flags on every camper.
It was advertised as $22 a night and they charged us $30. All we needed was plug in and a small space for our van. The campsite up the road was $50, and if we had read an accurate review, we would have spent the extra and stayed there instead.
Based on our experience, I am giving this place 4 stars only because I cannot give 3.5. The place definitely needs some TLC and there sites are consumed mostly by permanent residents; however, the staff is courteous and everyone in the place was super friendly. Our American Bulldog enjoyed meeting and greeting with the numerous dog residents, but he does not like cats (of which we saw a few wandering around) and fussed a little at them. All in all, we feel like we will return next year we go to the beach.
We pulled up on a Saturday night and we were horrified. There were big campfire parties, loud music and drunks everywhere. There were even young children and babies running around until 2am.
We were placed opposite a permanent resident who yelled abuse at us for having our lights on whilst backing up into the space. It was only 10pm and took us less than a minute to back up. We instantly felt unsafe.
The following morning, police were called to the campground to break up a fight between two neighbours. The place was littered with beer cans and trash from the huge parties.
Got reservations for an eight day stay and checked the Google reviews. First thought was "You can't please all the people all the time". Arrived at the campground around 2:30 in the afternoon and at a glance we thought let's check it out. Went into the office and was given the option of two different spots. Walked around and checked the spots out and decided to go elsewhere. Went to the office and told the woman we were going somewhere else and she was helpful giving me the phone number for two other campgrounds. Please update your photos.
Not the best. The staff was very nice, the long-term campers were extremely kind, and the noise level was mild to non-existent. Biggest concern for us was cleanliness. Our campsite had beer bottles, old egg shells, and too much other trash to mention scattered across it. We did not see a janitor at any time and the garbage was well over-full to the point that turkey buzzards were digging through it. The bathrooms weren't horrible for a campsite but the water smelled way too sulphuric for us to contemplate a stay longer than 2 days. Maybe a simple filter change would help with that.
The grounds keeper was very friendly and helpful though. We requested a more 'quiet spot' as we are a quiet couple who just love to travel in our basic little camper van.
