Dr. Shumate is hands down the best dentist in town! I know this because I have been working here for a year and a half. He is exceptionally personable, professional, and takes pride in his work! You will not regret your decision to be a guest in our practice!

One of the worst experiences I've had with a dentist office. I will say everyone was extremely nice. BUT, I went there for sedation. I've always had a terrible fear of the dentist. I explained to them during my consult I had a very, very high tolerance to sedation medicine. I was told they normally do oral sedation, but an IV would be started to keep me hydrated, and I thought they said to be able to give more medicine if needed. Well, the sedation was a bust. I was very out of it, but remember a lot from the procedure. It was such a horrible experience, my fear of dentists is even worse than before. To make it even worse, they weren't able to clean my teeth because of my level of agitation, I now have terrible pain in one of my teeth they worked on (just filling a cavity), and I'm having trouble being reimbursed by my insurance company. Basically, avoid this office, I know I will be.
Very comfortable setting and entire staff could not be more polite, personable or concerned about my personal comfort in every aspect of any procedure. Appointments are on time and staff is excellent about appointment reminders via text. In all my many years of going to the dentist, this is my very favorite practice! In fact, my husband and I, having recently moved to High Point, value and trust Dr. Shumate and the staff at Porters Neck Dentistry so highly we are continuing to drive from High Point for routine dental checkups and all dental work. I cannot write or list enough good comments about this practice. We are very grateful to have found them!
