They handled the situation very unprofessionally and didn't even apologize for the severe inconvenience.
Very poor customer service.
The least a company or organization can do is be present during the time that they actively scheduled themselves, but New Hanover County Inspections couldn't even do that.
I have been involved in a greenhouse addition to my home, nearing completion. From the reception desk staff to several of the inspector staff I have dealt with -- all have been extremely helpful and responsive to my (many) questions and needs. I commend them on their thoroughness and willingness to assist with this (tedious) important process. My project is much improved due to their input - from termite elimination to wind resistant framing. Thanks for a great job.
Homeowners are required to be home during the middle of a week day for their inspections, so scheduling is very difficult for middle-class working families. I expected them to show up during the scheduled time, but I didn't even receive a phone call until the following day during which the inspector asked if he could come now. Of course not. Why would I be home in the middle of the day?
