I have mixed feelings about Zocalo. The restaurant has a really cool vibe. The service was fine. The food was presented in generous portions but the flavor of the food was universally bland. Two people in my party had street tacos. They both complained that the tacos were, surprisingly, dry. We've had much better street tacos from some of the local food trucks. I had the chimichanga, which was ordinary and unremarkable. That said, the menu has a lot of very interesting and creative selections. Our biggest disappointment, however, was the tequila. We are tequila lovers, glad to see a restaurant promoting tequila. Zocalo does have a nice tequila selection. However, each of the four people in my party ordered a glass of tequila "to sip on during the meal." The meager amount of tequila in each glass was an insult. We were stunned that a restaurant billing itself as "Street Food/Tequila" would offer such a skimpy amount of tequila to its customers. We'd really like to go back, but only if Zocalo decides to be generous with rather than hoard their tequila.

If you like chain Mexican restaurants such that serve ground beef and cheese in everything. Trust me..you won't like this. It's the best we have found in Wilmington and lucky us, it's just down the road. Mexican with a flare. They make there own chips and tortillas. Everything is AWESOME. Had the sampler platter ($14) the other day and the two of us could hardly finish. I was truely a meal for two.... maybe even three. GREAT staff. Manager, owner and chef always walking around watching and talking to customers to improve all they can. If you don't like this place, FINE! Go back to the hamburger meat and cheese....and stay out of the way. We are HOOKED! lol

The food was worth the wait. Enjoyed the chips they really should be sold in stores. The drinks were perfect. My wife and I loved it. The staff was amazing. The atmosphere was mellow and relaxing

I went to the recently opened restaurant in the Barclay Pointe development, Zocalo. I've found my new best Mexican restaurant in the Wilmington area! Everything I had from the excellent margarita through dessert was very tasty. Even the chips and salsa don't come out of a bag and jar, but are made on the premises, and were good.

It's good but not so good. It looks Mexican but needs more flavours. A little slow must be that they are new. They served water with clorine taste. The place is nice and modern. I don't think I will go back.
