Hello to whom it may concern. I came into your small hospital in Scott’s Hill area right of hwy 17 north just before you get into Wilmington. I was feeling really bad when I came their. Your front staff was great. But when I went to the back they were horrible. They called 3 people at one time to go to the back. The lady just pointed at the room and told me to walk their someone will be with you in a minute. I walked to the room and sit on the bed and no one came into the room to even hook me up to the high blood pressure machine or even say hi I’m your nurse and I will be with you in a minute. All I saw was people walking by not even looking in the room for 45 minutes. No one came in the room at all. But what I did notice was a little boy came in when I was in the lobby with a little cut on his foot not even bleeding he passed my room going to his room and they had stitched his foot and him and his dad was leaving walking by my door saying goodbye to the nurses and no one had even came into my room period. So I asked to check out because I felt unsafe at a hospital. I checked out at came to the main hospital in Wilmington and they were great their. I have had cancer, I have had blood clots, I have had knee and and surgery at different hospitals but I never felt as unsafe as I did at your hospital in Scott’s Hill off 17 hwy north. The date was September 4,2017 I was in topsail for a family event. I’m born and raised in the topsail area. But live in Raleigh NC and my wife has been working at Wake Medical in Raleigh for 14 years and she was lost for words. Which I also have a Masters in Human Services and I couldn’t believe it. I don’t want to call it the color of my skin but its funny that everyone out there talking and standing around laughing was not my color and didn’t pay me any attention at all.
I am a minor and I visted your emergency room recently for depression. I was referred to y’all because of other doctors. When I first got there I was told my choices were therapy and medication. Shortly after I was taken to a room told to give them all my belongings and put on a gown. 5 hours went by before someone came to my room to evaluate me. At this point it was 11:30 pm and I was exhausted but after the nurse asked if I was suicidal I said “no but I am depressed”. She then wrote down that I WAS SUICIDAL”. Shortly after that the on-call psychiatric doctor contacted her and said I need to be sent to a facility in Winston-Salem. For depression? Those were the only words I ever said in the 12 hours I was there and I never actually saw a doctor before a transportation vehicle came and tried to take me away from my family. After 3 more hours of arguing stating that I did not need to be there I finally talked to a doctor and was let go within 15 mins. I seriously do not recommend this place to anyone, they will make a sane person go mad. This place did nothing to help they just tried to give me multiple medications and ship me off. If anything they caused heartache for me and my family.
I had to take my son to the emergency department last night and was extremely impressed by all the caring and helpful staff. My son (who has special needs) was met with open arms. All three staff members were patient and helpful with him. We ended up having to put his leg in a splint and all the doctors and nurses took there time and cared for his as there own. I couldn't thank them enough actually listening to my concern after taking him to the urgent care earlier in the day and them giving me the cold shoulder. Thank you, thank you so much of any of the staff members that helped me last night read this. I wish there was another way I could thank you more than just giving you 5 stars. Best staff ever. Very thankful.
Thank you
My husband recently had a procedure done at this hospital. He had his pre-admission done 3 days prior. He wanted to thank the nurse who saw him that day, Beverly, RN. She was so very kind and calmed his fears. On the day of the procedure from the registration dept., to O/P short-stay area and then staying for observation, everyone was so helpful and attentive. Thank you for a great experience! His nurses in the Tower (3rd floor) were also amazing (Dallas - nurse aide and Evan, Penny & Layla - nurses). This hospital was awesome, New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Thanks again, Robert R.
This is by far the most caring an compassionate hospital in NC. Right from the beginning their only focus was making me feel better an feel at home. I've been here 3 days an i haven't had to call the nurse or nurse aide once they've been on top of things I really thank God for the staff here because I may not have made it if it weren't for them. Not to mention I'm uninsured but they make me feel like I have the best insurance in the world an that's really hard to find nowadays. The Doctors are amazing an will go to the edge of the world to make sure you're getting the best treatment an care possible. Thank You NHRMC!!
