Also? This hotel is in the ugliest section of Wilmington - in strip mall hell.

The room was nice. There was no contienental breakfast and the shuttle doesn't run in the winter. The guy working here was nice. Would recommend.

Other poor design elements are the lack of a shelf in the shower/toilet area & the horrendous positioning of the TP dispenser. Who thinks it's a great idea to hang it below knee level? I really want to know! Clearly they never considered people with mobility issues.

I give it a 2 not just because it's 600 am and the coffee person doesn't even arrive until 7am, but for other similarly petty reasons.

An all around great experience from the moment we arrived. The staff were so friendly, pleasant and aim to please. The lobby, as with the entire hotel was beautiful, up-to-date, spotless and welcoming. The room we had was the with the King Size Bed that had a walk out patio door to the court yard. It was so convenient to get to the pool and patio seating area. The room itself was perfect in every way. The lighting was perfect as with the bathroom and dressing area. The bed was extremely comfortable. My husband and I both commented that we have not had such a comfortable bed like this in quite awhile. Usually after the second night we have had back and neck issues, but not this time and we were there for three nights. We recommend this Marriott to everyone and plan to stay here again next time we come visit our family.

A separate sink area does have a shelf above the area so when the sink leaks or the nozzle sprays (& it does spray-stand back!) anything not on sink level will stay dry. There's just one bar for hand towels, face clothes but precious little space for a person nevermind 2 people to place their personal items.

And why is that mirror positioned sideways, attached to bedside light but facing at the PILLOWS? If I wanted to use that mirror as a MIRROR, I'd need to lean over and twist sideways & I'd still never get a full view.

I'll start a with the pros and end with the cons:

First of all, staff was amazing. Extremely welcoming and sociable. Gave us great advice of places to visit, and even about weather patterns for the day. Did not want for a single thing. The room was cozy and extremely clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Will stay here exclusively anytime i come to this area.

Cons-We paid $170 a night to have a moldy shower curtain, a broken toilet, and a light that shined directly in my eyes while I slept (we literally had to go buy stickers to put over it so I could sleep). We reported the toilet and the shower curtain to the front desk and the shower curtain never got replaced. On our last day, we saw a COCKROACH in the room. In Virginia where we live, there's a courtyard by Marriott right across he street from us and it's beautiful and well taken care of. We always have family stay there when they visit. We'll never stay at the Wrightsville one again, it was the complete opposite experience :/

The 2 rating comes from DESIGN. The doors are ridiculously weighted. I work out every day & found them quick closing & too heavy for me & my luggage, so my parents would need the assistance of a 3rd person to return with an ice bucket.

So it's 6am and I need to make coffee in the doll-sized machine in the room. Where is it? On the BOTTOM SHELF of a cabinet along with a dozen coffee accoutrements that fall on the floor.

Pros- Really good, accessible area to be in while visiting Wilmington, close to the school and the beach, the lobby is beautiful and the bar/bistro is a nice touch and the bartender was great, check in staff was very pleasant

Go elsewhere.

Sure, the bed & pillows are comfortable, sure there are outlets &USB ports to spare, it's almost 2018 & there's a mattress store on every block! What modern hotels DON'T?

Can we talk about bedside lamps? WHY is the on/off switch up so high that even if your arms have a Kareem Abdul Jabbar stretch, you'd still have to sit up to turn it off?
