Lovely spot on Wilmington's River front. Convenient to many activities, shopping, dining and the property offers a complementary shuttle service. Southern civility and charm permeates the atmosphere throughout Wilmington and is found at the Wilmington Hilton as well. This property is not a corporate Hilton and therefore offers a more authentic personal touch. Unfortunately, the building was not designed to blend with the historical architecture of the city and is not attractive but easy to find! Nice comfortable beds in lovely remodeled rooms offering great River views and super easy access to the Wilmington scene!
This was my first time in the hotel. We were greeted by the lady at the front desk named Rachel. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about my reservation. When she found out it was my anniversary, she sent us a complimentary tray of crackers, cheese and a bottle of champagne. That was totally unexpected and thoughtful. She also upgraded us to valet parking at no extra charge. We are had a riverview room looking across the Cape Fear River. We could also see the USS North Carolina battleship. The hotel was going through some renovation at the time but in no way did it affect our stay. Everything was clean and quiet. I will definitely stay here again if I am in Wilmington.
We booked a double and were given a single. Luckily a very sweet housekeeper brought a roll out bed for our son to sleep on, as there was no couch. There was no fridge in the space inside the dresser. Thankfully pizza doesn't go bad easily... And the kid ate most of it in one fell swoop. :D I absolutely loved the bed, the beautiful tiled shower, and the gorgeous view of the Cape Fear river. Overall, we were comfortable and happy. I'll be sad to see the hotel change ownership next year.
Came for a holiday party and wish we hadn't stayed here. Simple as that. Price-wise, totally not worth it - can't believe this is a Hilton.
The bed was comfortable, the view was lovely, and the shower enclosure was pretty (glass and stone). What was bad: Parking is limited, inconvenient, and $11/night. Our king room smelled so musty when we arrived that we had to spray it with freshener. The room had no fridge, microwave, or coffee pot. Do NOT stay here if you don't enjoy hearing every word of every conversation held in hotel hallways...it's as if the walls are cardboard. The floor, which others here have called "hardwood" is a cheap laminate laid on top of the old flooring - there was a hollow, slapping sound as we walked. We will never be back, though I know from reading other reviews that any response from the hotel will not be focused on making things right, but will instead ask me to come back and spend more money. Nope.
I stayed in room 507. The room was clean. It was hardwood floor with a rug underneath the bed. There was a window overlooking the river but the center pain was fogged so that you couldn't really see very well. It had automatic blinds which was different. The bed was very comfortable. There was plenty of power and a good desk for working. The bathroom looks like it had been renovated recently and was very nice. The thermostat was stuck at 66 degrees which was fine for me since I like it cold anyways. The fan motor also rattled a bit but that also didn't bother me. The staff was efficient but not as friendly as some hotels that I've been to. The location was ideal being right on the river. Overall I had a good stay.
